Data on your device
Al Quran - Quran & Dhikr stores your preferences, bookmarks, notes, reading progress, listening history, Tasbeeh sessions and saved prayer location in browser storage on your device. Audio is streamed; the app does not offer audio downloads. You can export your personal data in Settings or erase app data through your device or browser settings. Previously opened Quran content may be cached locally for offline reading. Android app backup to the operating system's cloud service is disabled. Exported backup files are saved only to the destination you choose and remain there until you delete them.
Location and compass
Location access is optional. City and country searches are sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service, which uses GeoNames location data. Coordinates are sent to AlAdhan to calculate the schedule. When you choose current location, coordinates are also sent to BigDataCloud to resolve your locality, city and country. Its client service uses coordinate and network signals to improve geolocation data. Your saved coordinates are also used to calculate the direction and distance to the Kaaba. Compass sensor readings are used on the device to display direction. The map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap; tile requests reveal the area being viewed and your IP address to that service. AR requests camera permission only when you start it. Camera frames are displayed locally, without being uploaded or recorded by Al Quran - Quran & Dhikr.
Online services
Quran content, translations, tafsir, audio, portraits and fonts are loaded from external services. Those services and the hosting provider receive network information such as your IP address when content is requested, and operate under their own privacy policies. Hosting diagnostics may record application errors. Sharing uses your device's share menu or clipboard. The Android interface and its fonts are bundled inside the app; opening the interface does not load the hosted website. Online content and audio still contact their respective providers. Matching translation recordings are streamed from Al Quran Cloud and the Islamic Network CDN, which receive your network request and IP address. The app does not create an app account.
Advertising and theme rewards
The Android app uses Google AdMob for banner and native ads across app screens, including the audio player, and optional rewarded theme unlocks. Google's advertising SDK may process advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, ad interactions and diagnostics to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Our prayer-location coordinates, camera frames, notes and bookmarks are not passed to the ad SDK by our app. Google may infer an approximate location from network information. Required consent messages are handled through Google's User Messaging Platform before ad requests are permitted. Where required, Advertising privacy choices in Settings lets you revisit your choices.
Google's Privacy Policy
https://policies.google.com/privacyRewarded ads are optional. Completing an ad activates the selected counter style or Quran reading palette for the current foreground app session; leaving the app resets the unlock. Light, dark and system appearance are free and persist between sessions. The default reading palette and classic counter remain available without a reward. Debug test builds use Google's test ad units.
Notifications
Playback controls can appear in your device's media notification area. General notification permission is requested only when you choose to enable it. You can change permission in your device settings. Prayer reminder preferences and scheduled alarms stay on your device. AlAdhan receives your saved coordinates to fetch the next seven days of prayer times. Android can deliver scheduled reminders while the app is closed; browser reminders require the page to remain running. Open Al Quran - Quran & Dhikr weekly to refresh Android alarms. Optional Ayah of the day notifications store your chosen local time and a rotating set of verified Quran verses with your selected translation on the device. Quran.com receives requests for these verses and translation resources when preparing the schedule. Maududi Urdu audio is streamed from TarjumaQuran, a QuranUrdu.com project, which receives the audio request and IP address. Android restores the daily schedule after reboot; you can disable it in Settings.
